Bio

Bernie Zak, PhD (Physics, University of California, Berkeley) was an early member of LBL's Energy and Environment Program working on analytical instrumentation for environmental research. He had a hand in the development of the Isotope-Zeeman Atomic Absorption technique for rapid elemental analysis, a technique that has since been commercialized. Currently, Bernie holds the position of Senior Scientist at Sandia National Laboratories and is Manager of the DOE/ARM North Slope of Alaska Climate Change Research Site. He also represents DOE on the SEARCH Interagency Working Group.
