Bio

Prof. Dr. Gisele M. Arruda is a principal researcher in circumpolar studies in the field of Energy, Arctic, Climate Change, Environment and Society. She lectures and researches on Climate and Environmental Sciences and Governance, Arctic Energy Management Systems, Renewable Energy, Climate Change and Arctic Studies (Impacts of energy and resources development on environment and communities). She has 33 years of experience in teaching and research and she is a Senior Fellow of Higher Education Academy and a Fellow of Royal Geographical Society. She has worked as a scientific advisor to universities, examination boards, and as an international environmental manager and consultant in Sustainability for the energy/ petrochemical industry. She has also been an advisor for governmental and non-governmental organizations advising policy-makers, elaborating reports and promoting change. Additionally, she supervises PhD students and supports post-graduation learning. She is involved in international publications and international conferences.
