Bio

William (Bill) Simpson is an Atmospheric Chemist working at University of Alaska Fairbanks. He is a Professor of Chemistry with research at the Geophysical Institute. His undergraduate degree is from Swarthmore College and received his Ph.D. from Stanford University. He uses physical chemistry methods to study the Arctic atmosphere.

Current Research

Our research group studies arctic atmospheric chemistry with the goal of better understanding of how the unique conditions of the arctic region affects the transformation of pollutants. Our methods use spectroscopy to probe chemical composition of air, liquids, and solids.
