Bio

Graduated from Saint-Petersburg State University as water-ecologist in 1975. Obtained PhD at Russian Zoological Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences, in 1982. Having worked in Japanese, Baltic seas and the seas of Russian Arctic. Now in education, delivering lectures on Polar Marine Ecosystems, Sustainable development of Polar Regions, International Collaboration in Nature Protection, Social Ecology.

Socio-ecological approach to natural resources and environmental management in the Circumpolar North. Sustainable development of Russian Siberia through deliberate water management (oil and ice aspects). Elaborating ecological methods of environmental control relevant to oil port building in St. Petersburg area. Circumpolar Arctic: coastal zone of northern seas, including catchment area. White Baltic and Kara seas with their basins.
