Bio

Rune Storvold, PhD (Atmospheric Physics, University of Alaska Fairbanks), is a Senior Scientist in the Earth Observation Group at Northern Research Institute in Troms. Adjunct Assoc. Prof. Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Department of Engineering Cybernetics. Research interest focuses on development of remote sensing techniques based on unmanned aircraft systems using active and passive optical and microwave sensors with main focus on snow and ice in arctic regions.

Unmanned aircraft remote sensing of the cryosphere, atmosphere and vegetation.

Current Research

Unmanned aircraft systems for use in Arctic, sensor systems for measurements of snow and ice properties, vegetation and atmosphere. UAS in emergency response remote sensing of oil spills and search and rescue in the arctic.
