The Max Planck Institute for Meteorology invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher in biogeochemistry. This full-time, fixed-term position will be located in Hamburg, Germany.
The primary responsibility of the postdoctoral researcher is the integrated analysis of land biogeochemistry in the Arctic using local-scale observations, and evaluating and projecting carbon dynamics in the Arctic by using ICON-Land/QUINCY land surface model as a part of the Earth System Model, ICON.
Qualifications include:
- PhD in geosciences, meteorology, environmental sciences, or physics obtained by the position starting date;
- Experience in supercomputer simulations of state-of-the-art Earth System Models and especially their land surface components;
- Expertise in analysis of global remote sensing data and their application for the ESM evaluation;
- Expertise in Fortran, UNIX/Linux, Python, shell scripting, processing, and visualization of simulation data;
- Good communication skills, ability to work autonomously, and self-responsible; and
- Excellent writing skills in English.
