The Department of Earth and Oceanographic Science at Bowdoin College invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in surficial processes at the Assistant Professor level. This position will be located in Brunswick, Maine.
The Department seeks candidates whose scholarship will offer opportunities to engage students in research. The successful candidate will teach three courses per year, including two courses with separate lab sections, and will contribute to the rotation of core courses for the major. Full-time laboratory instructor support is provided for introductory-level courses. The Department is especially interested in candidates who can offer courses that reflect the interests of their increasingly diverse student body. A PhD in Earth Science, Geological Science, or other related field is expected by date of appointment.
Areas of expertise might include sedimentary systems, geomorphology, hydrogeology, glaciology, stratigraphy, neotectonics, paleontology, basin analysis, petroleum geology, near-surface geophysics, remote sensing, or GIS.
