UArctic invites input for their survey, Potentials and Expectations of the Agreement on Enhancing Arctic Scientific Cooperation.
The Agreement on Enhancing Arctic Scientific Cooperation was signed in May 2017 after which it was ratified by all Arctic eight countries (U.S., Canada, Kingdom of Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia). The purpose of the agreement is to enhance cooperation in scientific activities in order to increase effectiveness and efficiency in the development of scientific knowledge about the Arctic. The key element of enhanced cooperation is improved access to research areas, infrastructures, facilities, and data including education, training, and entries and exits. The agreement is now in force, and for effective implementation, it is important to know what needs and potential problems are faced by researchers and students in getting access to the Arctic (nationally and internationally).
This online survey is open to anyone who would like to contribute. No personal data will be published or shared, only the issues provided will be presented.
The results from the survey will be analyzed and a report will be compiled jointly by UArctic, the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) and the International Arctic Social Sciences Association (IASSA) to be presented at the Arctic Science Summit Week (ASSW) 2019 in May 2019. The report will be published on the organization’s website with an open access.
Survey closing date: 30 April 2019
