ARCSS Ocean-Atmosphere-Ice Interactions (OAII)
1999 All Hands Meeting on 20-22 October 1999
Virginia Beach Resort Hotel and Conference Center, Virginia Beach, VA

The 1999 OAII All Hands Meeting is planned as a venue for exchanging
information on past OAII experiments, for exchanging information on arctic
science in general, and for providing a forum for community input about
future OAII directions. All interested scientists are welcome.

AGENDA

This meeting will include plenary talks, two poster sessions, break-out
periods, a "town meeting" and, perhaps most importantly, significant
amounts of free time to foster discussions amongst the participants.

At this time (June 8, 1999), the list of plenary speakers and the topics
to be discussed during break-out sessions are still under discussion by
the OAII Science Steering Committee. We know that the break-out sessions
will include discussions of ongoing and planned OAII projects (SHEBA, SBI,
SEARCH). Additional break-out/discussion rooms will be available and
participants who wish to meet with colleagues interested in OAII related
topics can be provided with a meeting room, if they notify J. Grebmeier
(jgreb [at] utkux.utk.edu) within the next six weeks.

Although, the plenary speaker list is not yet finalized, the talks will
include overviews of:

1 * The ARCSS program in general
2 * OAII activities
3 * Scientific results from the SHEBA (Surface Heat and Radiation Budget)
project
4 * Phase I Shelf-Basin Interaction (SBI) activities
5 * SEARCH (Study of Environmental Arctic Change) plans
6 * An NSF report that will include a discussion of new funding
opportunities.

With additional plenary talk topics are under discussion, but will probably
include:

1 * At least one talk on research platforms/logistics
2 * Talks on the scientific results from other ARCSS programs such as the
studies of Greenland ice cores.

We will provide a more detailed meeting agenda, as soon as the list of
plenary speakers is finalized.
