NOAA Ocean Exploration Initiative
PROPOSAL DEADLINE: 7 November 2001, 1:00pm EST
NOAA's Office of Ocean Exploration is soliciting proposals in support of
its mission to expand knowledge of the oceans' physical, chemical, and
biological environments, processes, characteristics, and resources by
means of interdisciplinary expeditions to unknown or poorly known
oceanic regions and through innovative experiments. Proposals must be
submitted to the Office of Ocean Exploration no later than 1 p.m. EST on
7 November 2001.
The easiest route to the announcement is through the Arctic Research
Office's web site at: http://aro.oar.noaa.gov -- click on "Announcements
of Opportunity" and you should see it in bold letters. This web site
will, in turn, lead you to the announcement in the Federal Register,
published 4 September 2001.
NOTE: Unfortunately, there were some spelling and grammatical errors in
the official notice. The most serious error is in the web address for
questions and comments. Questions and comments concerning the
announcement should be submitted to oar.oe.faq [at] noaa.gov and NOT to
oar.oe.fag [at] noaa.gov.
In connection with its Ocean Exploration Initiative, NOAA held a
workshop, 25-26 July 2001, to discuss activities that might be
undertaken in the Arctic. The Announcement of Opportunity on the Arctic
Research Office's web site contains a link to a brief report on the
workshop.
