The Geophysical Institute and the College of Science, Engineering, and
Mathematics at the University Alaska Fairbanks invite applications for
two graduate research assistantships.

We are currently seeking highly qualified Ph.D. applicants interested in
pursuing research; performing uncertainty analysis on the impact of soil
and plant physical parameters on the fluxes predicted by advanced
soil-vegetation-atmosphere-transfer schemes; and developing and
evaluating a soil frost and snow model for use in MM5. Applications from
undergraduate students to carry out research on the impact of land-use
changes on cloud and precipitation formation are also welcome.

Applicants should have a strong background in mathematics and
