A Graduate Research Assistant position is available beginning Fall 2003
to work toward an MA or PhD at the University of Alaska Fairbanks in
some aspect of Alaskan vegetation at regional scales. This is part of
the North American Vegetation Databank Project (http://www.vegbank.org).
This project is supported by the National Science Foundation Biological
Databases and Informatics Program and the National Center for Ecological
Analysis and Synthesis (http://www.nceas.ucsb.edu). This position is
appropriate for students interested in landscape ecology, vegetation
patterns and dynamics, bioinformatics, or some combination of these. The
student will also interact with the Bonanza Creek Long-Term Ecological
Research Project (http://www.lter.uaf.edu). This position is funded for
two years with the possibility of additional research funding or
teaching assistantship.
