  1. "Forum on IHY/IPY." This is an open discussion seeking input from
the AGU community on the proposed International Heliophysical Year and
International Polar Year. This meeting will occur in Room 124 of the
Moscone Center. The IPY/IHY forum will be used to inform and request
input about these two proposed new activities, which are planned to
commence in 2007. The contact for this is Leonard Johnson
    (gljgerg1 [at] aol.com).

  2. "International Polar Science Needs You." This is a discussion of the
relevance of the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) to
your work today. We will talk about SCAR's restructuring and give
examples of geoscience programs that might interest US participants.
PLUS we will end with a discussion of various planning efforts related
to the commemoration of the IPY and IGY (coming in 2007). This meeting
is hosted by the National Academy of Science's Polar Research Board. It
will occur in Moscone Center, Room 104. The contact for this is Mahlon
    (Chuck) Kennicutt (mck2 [at] gerg.tamu.edu).

What to do if you're interested in the IPY discussions and wish to
attend both? We have coordinated our agendas as best we can. The PRB
discussion of IPY will be last on its agenda, so you can go to the
IHY/IPY first at 6:45 in room 124 and move to the PRB/SCAR town meeting
in room 104 around 7:30 pm.

Hope this helps your AGU planning.
