Comments are requested from the polar science community on a draft
report entitled "Setting a Course for Antarctic Integrated and System
Science (AISS)." The National Science Foundation is seeking advice on
future directions for the newly created AISS program within the Office
of Polar Programs, Antarctic Division.
Questions considered at a June 2007 workshop and guiding these
discussions include:
- Is a dedicated program the best approach to support research across
disciplinary boundaries?
- What types of inquiries might be supported within such a program?
- What would AISS include?
- How would AISS interface with existing programs?
