Papers are invited for Session C10: "Snow Cover-Soil Interactions" being
convened at the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting on 10-14
December 2007 in San Francisco, California.
Session Description:
The current climate conditions of rising temperatures and decreasing
snow cover duration worldwide have important hydrologic and
biogeochemical implications on local and global scales. One consequence
is an altered soil temperature regime that may affect plant uptake of
soil water, groundwater recharge, and carbon exchange. Session conveners
seek contributions investigating the linkages between an altered snow
cover regime, soil temperature, and the potential hydrologic, pedologic,
and atmospheric consequences over conditions of unfrozen, seasonally
frozen, and permafrost soils. Conveners are interested in experimental,
observational, and/or conceptual (modeling) perspectives.
