"Civilian Applications of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (CAUAS)" a symposium
dedicated to civilian applications of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS),
will be held on 1-3 October 2007 in Boulder, Colorado. Hosted by
University of Colorado at Boulder, the symposium is being convened to
develop an integrated vision of future UAS use in the U.S. incorporating
input from agencies, academia, and industry.
UAS offer unprecedented opportunities to the public and civilian sectors
of the U.S. Safe, routine, and long flights allow scientific studies
that fill important data gaps. This symposium will address the range of
public and civilian uses of UAS and examine the potential future of this
technology as it develops in the next decade. Representatives from
National Aeronautics and Space Administration, National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration, Department of Homeland Security, Department
of Energy, and Federal Aviation Administration, in collaboration with
leading university researchers and industry are gathering to discuss
possible collaborations, future potentials, and the most responsible
path forward. Leaders in this field will discuss, across disciplines,
the need for coordination, safety, and responsiveness in the coming
decade.
Registration is available until Sunday, 16 September 2007 at:
