Polar Bear Coordinator

World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the global conservation organization leading
international efforts for a living planet, is seeking an individual to
provide leadership, scientific guidance, and strategic communications on
the conservation of polar bears and related arctic species. The selected
candidate will work with WWF international staff and bear biologists
throughout the Arctic to develop an Arctic-wide WWF conservation action
plan for polar bears, including the development of climate-relevant
adaptation strategies; conduct policy analysis and provide technical
support for the development, funding, and implementation of WWF's polar
bear/Arctic species initiative; and manage partnerships with relevant
WWF bodies, scientific bodies, indigenous organizations, management
agencies, and donors.
Candidates should hold a Master's degree in conservation science or a
related discipline, preferably with marine mammal or arctic wildlife
conservation experience, and have a sound understanding of
species-related conservation issues in general, and knowledge of
relevant global issues such as climate change adaptation and resiliency.
Candidates should also have a minimum of five years relevant work
experience, especially on applied project implementation involving
diverse stakeholder groups and conservation planning, and knowledge of
international conservation arena. Other required qualifications include
proven organizational skills in program planning, management, and
monitoring; excellent written and oral communications, including comfort
level and capacity to engage and manage media in communications
strategies; and experience planning and managing project budgets.
