A qualified person is sought to assist with archival and library
research on the ethnohistory of Sledge Island, located approximately 25
miles west and south of Nome. Other duties may include processing and
analysis of artifact collections and data from sites located at Wales on
the western Seward Peninsula in Alaska. Additional tasks may be assigned
as needed.
Experience and skills should minimally include completion of an
archaeological field school, and completion of introductory archaeology
courses. Archaeological laboratory experience and completion of an
archaeological methods and techniques course are preferred.
This position is part-time and is based in Anchorage. It is scheduled to
begin Monday, 25 May and continue into the fall of 2009. Salary
allocated for this position is $16.40/hour; however, the actual,
assigned rate will be based on qualifications and experience.
