The first of the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists' (APECS)
2011 Virtual Poster Sessions will be held Thursday, 27 January 2011 at
4:00 p.m. GMT (7:00 a.m. AKST, 8:00 a.m. PST, 9:00 a.m. MST, 10:00 a.m.
CST, 11:00 a.m. EST, 5:00 p.m. in Norway). The first session is entitled
"Get to Know APECS."
Entitled "Get to Know APECS," this Virtual Poster Session is for new
APECS members and all people who want know more about what they can get
out of APECS. The following topics will be covered:
- Who and what is APECS;
- The APECS webpage (where to find what);
- Activities (e.g., working groups, Virtual Poster Sessions,
national committees, education and outreach);
- Advantages and possible time constraints of being involved with
APECS;
- Advantages of creating an APECS profile;
- Contacts and representatives; and
- Recent updates.
TO ATTEND THE SESSION
Adobe Connect Pro software will be used to conduct the session. The
software requires that Abode Flash Player be installed on participants'
computers. If your computer does not already have Adobe Flash, please
install it at: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/.
To log into the Virtual Poster Session, please go to:
http://connect.canterbury.ac.nz/apecs-vps_10/. Enter as a guest by
typing in a name (first name, last name, and institution preferred) and
clicking the 'Enter Room' button.
