Call for Input to Water and Sanitation (WASH) Survey
Arctic Council Sustainable Development Working Group
Submission Deadline: Open Until Further Notice
The Arctic Council's Sustainable Development Working Group is seeking
input for the Water and Sanitation (WASH) project. An online survey is
available for participants.
WASH focuses on improving health through safe and affordable access to
household running water and sewer in Arctic and sub-Arctic communities.
The United States and the Kingdom of Denmark co-lead the initiative,
which seeks to document the status of water & sewer service in Arctic
communities, promote innovations in sanitation-service provision, and
describe climate-related vulnerabilities and adaptation strategies
related to sanitation & water systems.
The target audiences for this survey:
-Those who live in Arctic or sub-Arctic communities;
-Professionals in health, water, or sanitation services; and
-Those in government responsible for health, environment, or water
sanitation services.
The intent of this survey is to describe the current status of this
important health determinant to assess progress towards the United
Nations Sustainable Development Goals and report this information to the
Arctic Council. Survey results may permit comparisons of water and
sanitation services, health indicators and approaches to climate-related
threats, and best practices and opportunities for collaboration. Survey
results will be collated and be made available on the Sustainable
Development Working Group Website (www.sdwg.org). A written report will
be prepared for the Arctic Council by May 2017.
Submission Deadline: Open Until Further Notice.
