Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL, https://www.ornl.gov/) seeks to
fill two senior research scientist positions:

Climate Change Impacts, Adaptation, and Vulnerability (IAV) - This
position is at the ORNL Climate Change Science Institute (CCSI).
Depending on the successful candidate's expertise, an affiliation with
ORNL's Urban Dynamics Institute (UDI) is also possible. Institutes at
ORNL bring together researchers from across the lab to focus on complex
and novel interdisciplinary research projects. The CCSI focus is on
Earth system modeling, terrestrial ecosystem sciences, environmental
data management and informatics, and IAV research. The UDI focus is on
understanding complexity of urban systems governed by physical and
behavioral sciences. They are looking for a nationally and
internationally recognized thought leader to help lead and grow ORNL's
IAV research portfolio. The successful candidate will have the
opportunity to draw upon the substantial expertise and tools available
at the CCSI, UDI, and the Lab; including one of the fastest and most
capable supercomputers in the world; world-class climate, population,
and urban dynamic models; sophisticated data management and
visualization tools; and an exceptional research collaboration
environment.

Climate Change Data Integration, Dissemination, and Informatics (DIDI) -
This position is at the Climate Change Science Institute (CCSI) and the
National Center for Computational Science (NCCS). Institutes and centers
bring together expert researchers and tools from across the lab to focus
on complex and novel interdisciplinary research projects. The CCSI focus
is on Earth system modeling; terrestrial ecosystem sciences;
environmental data management; and impacts, adaptation, and
vulnerability research. The NCCS focus is on using novel and
state-of-the-art computer and computational approaches to help
researchers deliver new scientific knowledge in a range of scientific
areas including climate. They are looking for a nationally and
internationally recognized thought leader to help lead and grow the DIDI
research efforts. This person will help solve the "big data" problem
associated with studying the climate system and how natural and human
systems influence and are impacted by a changing climate. A key focus
will be identifying, accessing, and using data in novel ways to address
some of the most pressing challenges facing humankind.

University of California at Davis seeks Assistant Professor
Cloud Physics and Climate Change
Davis, California

The University of California at Davis announces recruitment for an
academic year (9-month) tenure-track faculty position in Cloud Physics
and Climate Change. This position will be based in Davis, California.

The successful candidate will join the Department of Land, Air, and
Water Resources in the College of Agricultural and Environmental
Sciences at the rank of assistant professor. The candidate is expected
to conduct modeling, field and/or laboratory research on topics at the
intersection of cloud physics and climate change. This work may address
the impact of human activity on the formation, character, and radiative
properties of clouds, or improved representation of clouds within either
regional or global climate models (including sub-grid-scale drivers such
as convective processes, microphysics and macrophysics).

Criteria for appointment include a PhD or equivalent in atmospheric
science, meteorology, or a closely related field; a record of excellence
in scholarly research; demonstrable potential to establish a
competitively-funded research program; strong interest and demonstrated
ability (or potential) in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in
Atmospheric Science; ability or potential in undergraduate advising,
curricular development, and department and university service. The
appointee is also expected to guide and mentor graduate students and
participate in research and outreach/engagement programs consistent with
the mission of the California Agricultural Experiment Station.

University of Alaska Fairbanks seeks Professor
Environmental / Atmospheric Chemistry
Fairbanks, Alaska

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and the Geophysical
Institute at the University of Alaska Fairbanks invite applications for
a tenure-track position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level in
the area of atmospheric/environmental chemistry. The anticipated
start-date is fall 2016, and the position will be based in Fairbanks,
Alaska.

Candidates should hold a PhD in Chemistry or a related discipline;
postdoctoral experience is preferred. The successful candidate is
expected to establish an externally funded research program, mentor
graduate and undergraduate students, and teach at both the graduate and
undergraduate levels. Graduate teaching should be in Environmental
Chemistry, and undergraduate teaching expertise in physical / analytical
/ general chemistry is preferred.
