30th Wakefield Fisheries Symposium

Anchorage, Alaska

Organizers of the 30th Wakefield Fisheries Symposium announce a call for
abstracts. The theme for the 2015 symposium is "Tools and Strategies for
Assessment and Management of Data-Limited Fish Stocks." It will be held
12-15 May 2015 in Anchorage, Alaska.

The symposium will bring together fishery and social scientists,
managers, fishermen, and others from around the world. Organizers invite
abstract submissions in the following topic areas:

- Potential new types of data for assessment and management
- Alternative stock assessment methods
- Methods to incorporate uncertainty in assessment and management
- Integration of social and economic considerations into management
- Strategies for the management of mixed commercial, recreational,
and/or subsistence fisheries
- Methods for determining catch limits and alternative management
measures

To contribute an oral or poster presentation, submit an abstract using
the submission form on the symposium website. Abstracts must include:

- Type of presentation preferred (oral or poster).
- Topic area from the above list, or suggest a topic.
- Title, 10 words or fewer.
- Author names, affiliation, city, country, and email.
- Name of presenter and contact person.
- Text of abstract in 250 words or less; please do not include any
headings, tables, figures

Call for Abstracts
7th International Conference on Arctic Margins
2-5 June 2015
Trondheim, Norway

Organizers of the 7th International Conference on Arctic Margins (ICAM
VII 2015) announce a call for abstracts. The meeting will be held 2-5
June 2015 in Trondheim, Norway.

Abstracts are accepted for both oral and poster presentations.
Presentations will be selected to cover the conference scientific themes:

- New data on seafloor geology and deep structure of the Arctic
Basin and adjacent areas (their implementation in international
projects, with sub-session on planned field activities)
- Circum-Arctic onshore-offshore structural relations
- Stratigraphy, paleo-environments and geological history of the
Arctic basin and adjacent areas
- Arctic Large Igneous Provinces and their geodynamic significance
- Plate reconstructions and lithosphere evolution of the Arctic region
- Glacial events and their geological consequences (with sub-session
on origin of bottom sediments)
- Arctic Gas Hydrates

Workshop Announcement
Ocean Acidification in Alaska

Organizers announce that a workshop on Ocean Acidification in Alaska
will be held Tuesday, 2 December 2014 at the Marriott in downtown
Anchorage, Alaska. It is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Alaska time
with a reception afterwards, and can be attended either in person or
remotely. Public participation is welcome.

Alaska is experiencing a rapid and severe onset of ocean acidification
relative to many other coastal regions. Studies also show that Alaskan
coastal communities have varying degrees of vulnerability, ranging from
moderate to severe, with the most vulnerable located in regions where
fisheries are primary economic drivers of local economies. Partners
across the state have taken great strides to implement the current
monitoring system in place, but state funding is set to expire in 2015.
Now is the pivotal time to engage with a growing number of Alaskans
interested in making informed decisions about ocean acidification.

Jointly sponsored and organized by the Alaska Ocean Observing System
(AOOS), ACCAP, Alaska Sea Grant, the Alaska Marine Conservation Council,
and UAF's Ocean Acidification Research Center, this event aims to bring
concerned and/or interested individuals together to hear the latest
research, policy implications, community perspectives, and potential
impacts along Alaska's coast and oceans.

Call for Abstracts
Ilulissat Climate Days
June 2-5, 2015
Ilulissat, Greenland

Organizers announce that a workshop of current and future changes of the
Greenland and Arctic cryosphere will be held in Ilulissat, Greenland on
2-5 June 2015. Abstract submissions from the Arctic community are
invited.

The workshop will highlight overviews of current changes, as measured
from space, airborne, and in-situ methods, and future projections of
changes. The meeting is a follow up on the similar event 'Nuuk Climate
Days 2009' and will involve both scientists and stakeholders in
discussions on cryosphere changes, and their effects on the Greenland
environment and society.

Ilulissat Climate Days is timed with air connections from Denmark and
Iceland, and is arranged by a committee from Danish, Greenlandic, and
Icelandic organizations. The activities will also include the final
conference for the Nordic Centre of Excellence SVALI (Stability and
Variations of Arctic Land Ice) as well as meetings related to the ESA
Climate Change Initiative.

The workshop is being developed by an International Science Committee,
and will consist of both invited science/stakeholder talks as well as
submitted presentations.
