Call for Proposals
Chilean-U.S. Joint Projects
National Science Foundation
Chilean National Commission for Scientific and Technological Research
Submission deadlines:
Research Projects, Thursday, 9 May 2013
International Networks, Thursday, 16 May 2013
The National Science Foundation announces an opportunity for cooperation
between Chilean and U.S. researchers. There are two calls available,
with the Chilean National Commission for Scientific and Technological
Research (CONICYT), Chile's NSF equivalent.
The first call is intended to fund research projects between Chilean and
NSF-supported U.S. researchers. There is also a special opportunity for
projects with researchers from Massachusetts. The Terms of Reference are
available at: http://tinyurl.com/cr2crbk. Research teams, living in
Chile with confirmed sponsorship from one or more public or private
Chilean institutions and conducting research in oceanography, polar
research, natural disasters, ecology/biodiversity, or social sciences
and the humanities, may apply with U.S. counterparts who are funded by
the National Science Foundation. Projects in biotechnology and related
topics are supported under the agreement with the State of
Massachusetts. This call is open for applications until Thursday, 9 May
2013.
The second call aims to support the creation of international networks.
It funds one year networking projects between research centers in Chile
and the U.S. (among other countries), specifically short stays,
seminars, and other joint activities. The Terms of Reference and other
documents in Spanish and English are available at
http://tinyurl.com/c5gd3ff/. This call is open for applications until
Thursday, 16 May 2013.
The Division of Polar Programs encourages U.S. researchers to explore,
with Chilean collaborators, the opportunities offered by these Chilean
funding programs. The Antarctic Sciences Section would appreciate being
informed of any submitted proposals.
