The Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) announces the
fifth webinar in the Spring 2013 Career Development Webinar Series,
scheduled for Wednesday, 13 March 2013 at 5:00 p.m. GMT. For information

This week's webinar is entitled "Integrating Video as a Research Tool."
It will be presented by Maya Salganek, Assistant Professor, Film/Video
Arts, University of Alaska Fairbanks. The webinar will cover basic
camera principles and techniques for utilizing digital video in research
projects. The webinar will include camera and basic equipment options,
fundamental filming techniques, legal concerns, and data retrieval and
storage. Maya Salganek and her students worked with UAF researchers for
the publication "Field Techniques for Sea Ice Research" manual and
multimedia DVD. She also served as a section editor and contributor for
the book North by 2020: Perspectives on Alaska's Changing
Social-Ecological Systems.

TO ATTEND THE WEBINAR
To attend a webinar a computer or smartphone and an internet connection
are needed. A headset or headphones and a built-in microphone are
recommended but not required. Webcams and telephones will not be used in
the presentations and are not needed to participate.
