Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center

The Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center (NERSC) seeks
applications for 1-3 vacant senior researchers. The positions will be
based in Bergen, Norway.
The Center conducts basic and applied environmental and climate research
focusing on climate processes, variability, and change; arctic and
marine remote sensing; ocean modeling, data assimilation, and
forecasting; and the socio-economic impact of global change.
Interested candidates must have a PhD degree and minimum 3 years of
research experience in relevant scientific disciplines including but not
limited to oceanography, meteorology, or applied mathematics. Applicants
should describe their research interests and ambitions and how these can
be integrated in or expand NERSC's research activities.

- Asiaq, Greenland Survey seeks Project Manager
ClimateBasis

Asiaq, Greenland Survey seeks a project manager for the ClimateBasis
program. The position will be based in Nuuk, Greenland.
ClimateBasis is a program within the interdisciplinary research projects
Nuuk Basic and Zackenberg Basic (http://www.g-e-m.dk). The goal of these
programs is to provide knowledge about the short and long term
variations in the low and high arctic ecosystems. The open position is
within the group for Hydrology, Climate and Environment, which deals
with hydrology and climate in collaboration with technicians at Asiaq's
workshop.
The successful candidate will ensure continuity of ClimateBasis' climate
and hydrology monitoring, write articles for international papers, and
communicate project results. The position will also take part in
developing Asiaq's research profile.
Applicants should come from the fields of geography, physics,
engineering, or equivalent. A PhD in arctic climatology or hydrology is
preferred. Experience with project management, research applications,
and public outreach would be an advantage. Applications should include a

The Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Alaska
Anchorage seeks to hire two tenure-track faculty members; one in
environmental/earth surface processes at the Assistant Professor level
and one in economic geology/mineral resources at open rank. The
positions will be based in Anchorage, Alaska.
The Environmental/Earth Surface Processes position requires expertise in
both the physical and chemical aspects of Earth-surface dynamics.
Research could focus on interactions between tectonics and landscape
evolution, natural hazards, or near and sub-surface processes associated
with geologic resources such as water, minerals, and energy. For the

The Economic Geology/Mineral Resources position requires expertise in
the general field of economic geology/mineral resources that could
include magmatic and hydrothermal systems, geochronology or isotope
systematics. The Department currently has expertise in aqueous
environmental geochemistry and exploration geochemistry and seeks to
compliment that with a more hard-rock based skill set. Focus should
include field and laboratory-based research that takes advantage of
opportunities to work with the minerals industry in Alaska and beyond.

Aboriginal Community-Based Teacher Education

The Faculty of Education, Memorial University of Newfoundland, invites
applications for a one-year teaching term appointment in the area of
Aboriginal Community-Based Teacher Education. The position will be based
in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Labrador, Canada.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses for a
dynamic Community-Based Education (B.Ed.) Program for Aboriginal teacher
education students that will be based in Labrador. Qualified candidates
should have a completed doctorate (or near completion) in education or a
related area; proven experience in teacher education; design, conduct,
and reporting of research and the development of curricula; familiarity
with Aboriginal cultures and communities; willingness to travel
throughout the Labrador region; or a combination of appropriate
education and experience.
