CH2M HILL Polar Services (CPS) and UMIAQ announce the reintroduction of
the Barrow science support website, entitled the "Barrow Bulletin," as a
tool to assist in planning NSF-funded research and fieldwork in the area
of Barrow, Alaska. To visit the Barrow Bulletin website, please go to:
http://www.polarfield.com/barrow.

The Barrow Bulletin is created as an outlet for news items, program
updates, and an introduction to the new support model including the
staff and their organizations. No password is required to access
information and the site allows users to submit confidential comments or
questions.

The website is sponsored by NSF, CPS, and UMIAQ, a subsidiary of the
Ukpeagvik Inupiat Corporation (UIC). The Barrow village corporation was
established under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) of
1971. CPS and UMIAQ are partners on the NSF's Arctic Research Support
and Logistics contract to provide services for NSF-sponsored research in
the Arctic.

UIC provided a press release on 1 February confirming their support to
science in the Barrow area, and reinstating their direct management
authority over the Barrow Environmental Observatory (BEO), as well as
other Barrow-based scientific research properties it owns including a
number of facilities at the former Naval Arctic Research Laboratory. For
the full UIC press release, entitled "UIC Affirms Its Commitment to
Scientific Research in Barrow," please go to:
http://www.ukpik.com/PressReleases.htm.

contract awarded to CPS and UMIAQ, please see:
