The National Science Foundation has just announced a new grant
competition in the area of "Knowledge and Distributed Intelligence"
(KDI). KDI is designed to catalyze research centered around the recent
growth in computer power and connectivity that is reshaping
relationships among people and organizations and transforming our
processes of learning, exploration, cooperation and communication.
The Arctic region presents unique opportunities for KDI research.
Examples include the development of disaster response systems or the
integration and representation of rich and heterogeneous data sets on
environmental systems.
