Dear Scientific Community,
Booz Allen Hamilton has been contracted by the U.S. Coast Guard to
conduct a Mission Needs Analysis for the Polar Icebreaking Program.
Specifically, Booz Allen will document and analyze the Coast Guard's
capability to support heavy icebreaking activities in support of
maintaining U.S. interests in Arctic and Antarctic regions.
As part of the study we want to get the scientific community's input on
their past experience on board the icebreakers and what types of needs
they have when conducting scientific research. The goal is to identify
what the key and attainable scientific needs are in terms of equipment,
communications, and personnel support in order to better service
scientific research.
We need your help identifying research support needs in these areas.

Booz Allen will represent the polar research community in the Mission
Needs Analysis by documenting the long-term Coast Guard Icebreaker
support required by polar scientists. Recommendations will be developed
by analyzing data gathered from the research community through surveys
and interviews. A timeline for the data gathering efforts involving the
scientific community is included below.
