University of Alaska Fairbanks Department of Anthropology invites
applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in social-cultural
anthropology at the assistant professor level.

Duties include teaching courses that complement the department's current
offerings, undergraduate advising and graduate supervision, research,
and university and public service. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in hand
by August 2005 and teaching experience is required. Alaska
specialization strongly preferred, or North American Arctic/Subarctic
experience with commitment to developing an Alaska research program.
Preference will be given to candidates with
(1) broad theoretical knowledge of the discipline and subdiscipline
(2) successful teaching experience
(3) established research record
(4) established record of collaboration with northern communities
(5) topical specialization that complements the department's strengths
(including, but not limited to, medical/nutritional anthropology,
symbolic anthropology, folklore, legal anthropology)
