The Center for Atmosphere-Ocean Science (CAOS) of the Courant Institute
of Mathematical Sciences at New York University currently seeks a
postdoctoral fellow to participate in the Arctic Ocean Modeling
Intercomparison Project (AOMIP). This is a multi-institutional project
supported by the International Arctic Research Center (IARC) of the
University of Alaska, Fairbanks. The position will be held in New York
City. The fellow will be involved in:
a) running a large-scale sea-ice ocean model,
b) performing statistical intercomparisons of model results from
participating institutions, and
c) maintaining a web-based data server of model results.
Suitable candidates will posses a Ph.D. in physical oceanography,
atmospheric science, applied mathematics, computer science, or a related
discipline. Those with a strong computational background and familiarity
with manipulating and serving large data sets are especially encouraged
to apply. The position is initially available for a one-year period and
is renewable for subsequent years subject to performance review and
funding availability. The salary range is $40,000 - $60,000 USD with an
attractive benefits package offered.
